The damage is estimated at $200,000 after a fire broke out at an apartment building in Wallaceburg early Thursday morning.
Fire crews were called to the scene at 800 Wallace Street at 1:20 a.m. Thursday and said they could already see smoke and flames coming from a second storey apartment unit when they arrived.
Firefighters "initiated an offensive attack" and were able to knock the flames down quickly, but said the contents of the unit and the unit itself were both heavily damaged. There was also some water damage to the unit below and beside the unit where the fire was located.
There was also smoke damage reported throughout the entire building, but fire officials said they were able to save an estimated $1,000,000 in property.
No injuries were reported and the cause is going down as undetermined for now.
