Chatham-Kent is once again on the hunt for a new Medical Officer of Health.
A release from the municipality Monday morning said that's because Dr. Mario Kangeswaren has resigned from his role as the Acting Medical Officer of Health (MOH) for Chatham-Kent only a couple of months after taking the job.
The release said the resignation was effective October 21, 2022 and that Dr. Kangeswaren is leaving to "pursue other opportunities."
Dr. Kangeswaren was just selected for the position in July and took over as Chatham-Kent's Acting MOH at the end of August.
"We have been in contact with recruitment firms and will finalize this shortly," said April Rietdyk, General Manager of Community Human Services and the CEO of the Chatham-Kent Public Health Unit. "The CKPHU team is very experienced and will continue to provide excellent Public Health Service."
Rietdyk said that while the search continues for a new MOH in Chatham-Kent, Dr. David Colby -- who had been the MOH for Chatham-Kent for almost 20 years before he announced his retirement earlier this year -- will fill the role.
