Chatham Sports Hall of Fame to welcome new inductees

The Chatham Sports Hall of Fame's 2022 class is set to be officially inducted.

As previously announced, this year's class includes CFL player Andy Fantuz, golfer Mike Woodcock, track and field athlete Beryl (Nurse) Ivey, skating coach Shelley Simonton, football coach and sports administrator Gord Grace, volleyball player and coach Dave Preston, and the 2009 Team Stafford curling team.

The annual dinner and induction ceremony will take place Thursday, September 22 at the John Bradley Convention Centre in Chatham.

A 12-year CFL veteran, Fantuz won a Grey Cup in 2007 with the Saskatchewan Roughriders and ended his CFL career at 18th all-time in receptions and fourth-most among Canadians.

Grace is currently the President and CEO of Ontario University Athletics and oversees 20 Ontario universities across 23 sports, involving 500 teams, 10,000 athletes and 40 championship events.

Team Stafford made history in 2009 as the first rink in the 157-year history of the Chatham Granite Club to win a national championship.
