UPDATE: Body of missing swimmer found near Rondeau

Rescue crews have recovered the body of a missing man who fell off an inflatable raft in the waters of Lake Erie.

The Ontario Provincial Police said officers and firefighters responded to Rondeau Provincial Park on Saturday at around 1:39 p.m., after receiving a report of a swimmer in distress.

Police said the 25-year-old man failed to re-surface after falling from the inflatable raft.

The Joint Rescue Coordination Centre in Trenton (JRCC), the Canadian Coast Guard, the OPP Aviation Services, the OPP Marine Unit all assisted in the search. The man's body was recovered in the waters of Lake Erie near the shore of Rondeau on Sunday at around 2:30 p.m.

The deceased man has been identified as Yuriy Zhlobitskyy of Barrie.

An autopsy has been scheduled for Monday in London.
