One dead after 401 crash

One person is dead and another has been taken to the hospital following a two-vehicle crash on Highway 401 in Tilbury.

The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) said two vehicles going eastbound crashed on the 401 just east of County Road 42 on Monday just after 11 a.m. The OPP said one vehicle veered off the highway and ended up in the south ditch. One person was pronounced dead at the scene and a second person was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. The driver of the second vehicle was not injured.

The eastbound lanes of Highway 401 at County Road 42 were closed for several hours to allow officers to investigate.
