Two new positive COVID-19 cases at CK schools

Three more schools in Chatham-Kent are dealing with COVID-19 concerns.

Ursuline College Chatham reported one positive case on Wednesday, which led to one class being sent home. Winston Churchill Public School in Chatham also posted on its website on Wednesday that there has been one positive case reported within that school community.

At the same time, A.A. Wright Public school in Wallaceburg also reported on Wednesday that it is dealing with a "probable case".

Positive cases were previously identified at McNaughton Avenue Public School in Chatham, Queen Elizabeth II Public School - Chatham, Tecumseh Public School in Chatham, and Chatham Kent Secondary School. However, one case at McNaughton Avenue Public School was marked back down to zero on Thursday morning.

All of those schools are still open and officials with the local public health unit will reach out to anyone who is considered a "close contact" of any of those cases.

The Chatham-Kent Public Health Unit didn't update the local numbers on Wednesday because their offices were closed for Remembrance Day.

The last report said there were 23 active cases in Chatham-Kent and another update is expected Thursday afternoon.

Across Ontario, 1,426 new cases were announced on Wednesday.
