Ribfest Coming Up In Chatham

The countdown is on for Chatham-Kent residents to chow down on some ribs at Tecumseh Park in Chatham.

Chatham-Kent Ribfest will be held from Friday, July 6 to Sunday, July 8. The event runs from 11am to 11pm on Friday, 11am to 11pm on Saturday, and 11am to 6pm on Sunday.

"Definitely the star of the show is the ribs. It always has been. It's Ribfest. People come from miles around to get those wonderful succulent ribs that they can smell from a mile away when they're coming for them," says Family Shows Canada President Doug Hillier.

Hillier says there will also be live entertainment, exhibitors, and other great food.

"This year we're going to be featuring Budweiser beer. That's a new change from the past. We did some surveys and found out that that is one of the most popular beers in the Chatham area, so Budweiser beer will be one of the new things," he says.

Hillier says if the weather is good, about 30,000 people attend the event annually.

"Chatham-Kent Ribfest is Chatham's biggest barbecue. It is big family fun. We've got rides, we've got great food," says Hillier. "Even if you come and just want to enjoy the park and enjoy the live bands, it won't cost you anything. Just come out and enjoy."
