New Jobs, Investment For Auto Plant

Windsor's automotive industry is getting a significant investment, which translates into new jobs for the region.

Ontario Finance Minister Charles Sousa announcing Monday that Nemak is receiving a $1.5-million grant. The company, which produces aluminum automotive parts, is investing $15.7-million of its own to create a second manufacturing line.

Sousa says these two investments translate into 80 new jobs over the next three years, plus an additional 200 jobs will be secured.

Nemak will begin manufacturing a cast aluminum gas engine cylinder block and exporting it to Shanghai General Motors, which allows them to expand into the Chinese market. "This could be the beginning for us," says Glenn Byczynski, Nemak's Technical Manager.
