Wingham hosting Elementary School Curling Championships

The Wingham Golf and Curling Club is currently playing host to some aspiring curlers.

The Elementary Provincial Curling Championships are being contested at the club, from March 30-April 2. Elementary school children, representing local curling clubs and not their actual schools, are throwing rocks over the 4 day tournament featuring a total of 32 teams from Arthur, Chesley, Elmira, Kincardine, Listowel, Palmerston, Waterloo, Wingham, London, Port Elgin, Barrie, Bobcaygeon, Carp, Markdale, Toronto, Guelph, Kingston, Port Perry and Schomberg.

Many of the towns and curling clubs have multiple teams competing. Opening ceremonies are tonight, March 31, at 5:45 p.m., and the finals will be played on Sunday, April 2. Admission is free, and there are raffles and 50/50 fundraisers at the event.
