Tough start and finish at The Open for Conners

Listowel's Corey Conners had a tough start and finish in his final round at The Open at Royal St. George's.

Conners, who went into the final round in a tie for fourth at 8-under, carded bogeys on the first two holes. He then birdied the Par-3 6th and sunk and eagle on the Par-5 7th.

There were four more bogeys on his scorecard, including the 18th, to finish the day at 3-over and 5-under for the tournament.

Conners score dropped him out of the top 10 into a tie for 15th.

Fellow Canadian Mackenzie Hughes was 1-under for the day and 8-under for the tournament, good for a tie for 6th.

The day belonged to American Collin Morikawa who went on a tear, carding birdies on holes 7 through 9. He then played bogey free golf on the back nine, adding one more birdie and finished at 15-under for the win and finished two shots ahead of fellow American Jordan Spieth.
