OHA names St. Marys Lincolns trainer Darren Smale OHA Trainer of the Year

The Ontario Hockey Association has named St. Marys Lincolns trainer Darren Smale the Trainer of the Year for the 2019-20 season.

Smale first worked for the Lincolns in high school, and after stints with a few different organizations, he rejoined the Lincolns alongside his brother Greg Smale, who serves as the Lincolns GM, at the start of the 2018-19 season, serving as the head trainer and equipment manager.

Smale has also been involved with St. Marys minor hockey for over 15 years. The St. Marys native has worked as a trainer for the OHL's Sudbury Wolves, the CFL's Toronto Argonauts, the Intercounty Baseball League's London Majors, and was recently hired as head clubhouse manager for the AA Rocket City Trash Pandas, an affiliate of the MLB's Anaheim Angels.
