Siskins take opener of Cherrey Cup in Listowel

The Waterloo Siskins scored three goals late in the third period to solidify a win in Game 1 of the Cherrey Cup final.

Waterloo carried a 1-0 after the first period.

Steven Grant and Brayden Krieger gave Listowel the lead with just over three minutes left in the period.

But then Waterloo struck for three goals in just over two minutes with Sam Cherry igniting the offence on the power play.

Alec Tiley and Curtis Rawn would score as well.

The Siskins would close things in the third with two more goals, one of them short handed.

Game 2 of the series is Sunday at 1:30 p.m. in Waterloo
