Surviving Overtime, Hawks Outlast Patriots

Walkerton and Mount Forest can't seem to solve things in 60 minutes.

For the fifth time in the final series, a game went into overtime.

Walkerton won in OT for the second time this series when forward Gary Mantz took a rebound off Patriots' goalie David Lobsinger and fired it high glove side ending Game 5 at the 4:08 mark of overtime. Walkerton 4 Mount Forest 3.

Mount Forest took a 2-0 lead with goals from Klayton Hoelscher in the first period and Troy Weber in the second.

Then, with Mount Forest on the power play, Walkerton forward Adel Zivojevic took the the puck off a falling Patriot player and slid it by Lobsinger for the tying goal. Zivojevic scored his second goal of the series just over three minutes later to tie the game at two.

After the teams each scored one more each courtesy of Michael Stefanelli and Spencer Elder respectively, the game went into over time.

Game 6 is Friday night in Walkerton at 8:20 p.m.
