Listowel Native World Jr. Ready

Listowel native Roland McKeown has a chance to try out for Canada's World Junior team.

The 19-year old defenseman is into his fourth season with the Kingston Frontenacs.

McKewon was drafted in the 2nd round, 50th overall by the LA Kings in 2014. He was then part of a trade and sent to Carolina earlier this year and signed a 3-year entry level contract with the Hurricanes in April.

McKewon is one of 11 defenseman trying out for a spot on Canada's Junior team.

The Selection Camp starts December 10 and continues until December 13 in Etobicoke.

The World Junior Championship is in Finland this year and Canada's first game will be against the U.S. on Boxing Day.
