Schmidt Works to Make it as a Professional Golfer

Twenty-four-year old Kincardine native Taylor Schmidt excelled at the game of golf at many levels including at the NCAA level in Oklahoma.

Now she's pursuing a professional career but it's more than just playing, she's also learning the business side by launching a new website, taylorcschmidt.com.

"Airfare is huge to get to every event," she says, "I'm in Wichita which is nice, based in the middle of the US basically."

She says the expenses add up: "I basically have to fly to every event and/or drive so gas money,  airfare, (and) obviously my entry fee into every event."

Schmidt is also working at earning her LPGA Tour card.

"The goal is obviously to make a cut and then I go to Stage Two of Q-School in the middle to end of October in Venice, Florida," she says, "my main goal right now is to make it through Stage Two to get to Stage Three."

From there, Schmidt says it's about making as many cuts as possible to try to get her LPGA card.
