Perth OPP take 12 commercial vehicles off the road in one-day blitz

Provincial police in Perth County took several commercial vehicles off the road during a one day inspection blitz that was part of a province-wide crackdown.

Operation Safe Haul is running across Ontario until November 1.

On October 21, Perth OPP inspected 26 vehicles. Twelve were taken out of services with two having their plates removed and deemed unfit, while one was deemed critically unsafe and removed from the roadway. In total, 16 provincial charges were laid.

"Some of the critical defects we are looking for include anything to do with tires and wheels, brakes, and structural issues with frames and other parts of the vehicle. These issues can lead to catastrophic events such as wheel detachments that put the operator and others on the road at risk, highlighting that the goal of these inspections is to keep our roadways safe and hold drivers accountable before something happens," stated Provincial Constable Michael Craig.
