The Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (OLG) announced its second quarter payments to host communities this week, and over $500,000 is coming to the region.
The Town of Hanover received a payment totaling $348,993 for hosting Playtime Casino, while the Municipality of Central Huron received $195,833 for hosting Gateway Casinos. The second quarter payment includes proceeds from July 1 to September 30.
So far, during OLG’s fiscal year Hanover has received $692,110. Central Huron has gotten $408,337.
OLG says the payments are based on a formula in the Municipality Contribution Agreement that is consistently applied across all land-based casino sites in Ontario using a graduated scale of gaming revenue at the hosted site.
Since 1994, host communities have received more than $2.4 billion in non-tax gaming revenue.
