Huron County Children’s Services has launched a new recruitment campaign to encourage individuals to explore careers in early childhood education.
Funded by the Ministry of Education’s Early Childhood Educator Promotional Fund, the initiative is part of the region's continued efforts to expand access to licensed child care by addressing the growing demand for qualified early childhood educators. Recently, the Town of Goderich reported 171 children on a waiting list for their municipal childcare centre.
According to Huron County, Registered Early Childhood Educators (RECEs) play a vital role in supporting local families, strengthening communities, and helping children build the skills and confidence necessary to thrive. To support these goals, the County of Huron’s campaign features a dedicated webpage outlining various pathways to becoming an RECE, details on education and training opportunities, and profile stories highlighting local educators making a daily impact.
“Early childhood educators are essential to the well-being of children, families, and communities,” said Barbara Hall, Director of Social and Property Services. “Whether you are currently working in child care, considering a career change, returning to the workforce, or graduating from high school, becoming an RECE is an opportunity to build a rewarding career while making a meaningful difference close to home.”
By backing local recruitment, Huron County aims to bolster the early years workforce and ensure families maintain access to quality child care programs throughout the region.
The campaign also celebrates the dedicated professionals who contribute to the vitality of the local community. Huron County Children’s Services expressed its gratitude to the educators, child care professionals, organizations, and community partners who support local families and help make the region a great place to live, work, and grow.
