The first weekend of voting in the 2026 municipal and school board election drew a small contingent of electors in Owen Sound.
The city announced that the first three days of the voting period, which began last Friday, saw 7 per cent of eligible voters cast their ballots.
"Voters are encouraged to vote early and avoid potential lineups at Election Centres," the city said in a statement. "Don’t wait until the last opportunity to cast your ballot. Vote early and make your voice heard."
Voting is available online and by phone 24 hours a day until 8 p.m. on October 26. The city's two election centres, one in city hall and the other at Heritage Place Mall, are open during that period to register voters and update voter information, provide online voting assistance, answer questions on the election process, and allow independent voting.
The election centre at city hall is open daily from noon until 4 p.m. through Friday, while the one at Heritage Place Mall will be available from noon until 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Both centres will be open from noon until 8 p.m. on October 26. Additionally, election officials will travel to long-term care and retirement facilities, the hospice, and hospital to assist voters.
Eligible voters should have received voter information letters with the credentials needed to vote online or by phone in the mail earlier this month. A list of candidates was also included in the letter.
