United Way announces new Huron County campaign co-chairs

United Way Perth Huron (UWPH) has announced the new co-chairs for the annual fundraising campaign in Huron County.

Kim Burgsma and Bernice Glenn have officially assumed the roles, according to a statement from UWPH.

Burgsma, a Goderich native and business owner, has been volunteering and helping the community for over 40 years. She helped launch the Fishes and Loaves initiative, a free community meal program that has provided hot meals to those facing food insecurity for the past 19 years with the support of local churches.

Glenn has been helping UWPH for the past seven years, including the inaugural Coldest Night of the Year walk in Goderich. Glenn also served as a director with the Dungannon Agricultural Society and continues to support the community through her activism.

UWPH also announced Marian deWever and June Leitch as co-chairs in Stratford-Perth.

"Kim and Bernice are well-known for their incredible work in Huron County," said Ryan Erb, CEO of UWPH. "Pressing local issues like poverty, housing and homelessness and mental health aren’t going away. We are looking forward to getting the campaign underway and, with help from Kim and Bernice, continue building the impact of UWPH across Huron."
