Large wooden slabs taken in Grey Highlands barn break-in

A 68-year-old man is facing charges after a barn in Grey Highlands was broken into on Wednesday.

Grey Bruce OPP were called about the incident at a Wellington Street property just before 6 p.m.

Video surveillance from earlier in the day showed a person, who did not have permission, go inside the barn and take three large wooden slabs. The slabs were loaded into a dark-coloured pickup truck, which then left the area.

Investigators made an arrest after finding the suspect vehicle on Wellington Street.

A 68-year-old Grey Highlands man is charged with breaking and entering, theft under $5,000, and failure to comply with a probation order. He has been released from custody and is scheduled to appear in Owen Sound court in relation to the charges on September 3.

Police said the incident should remind property owners of the importance of properly securing buildings and valuables.
