Residents want 'Beach' to remain part of Sauble Beach brand

South Bruce Peninsula says it will continue using the full name of Sauble Beach in branding moving forward.

The town recently ran a survey as part the first step of its $75,000 rebranding effort.

Town staff said the study was necessary after confusion brought on by the Supreme Court ruling a stretch of shoreline belongs to Saugeen First Nation, and the subsequent renaming of that area as Saugeen Beach.

However, 43 per cent of residents that voted said they were not in favour of using just the Sauble name moving forward, noting it would strip away a core part of the local identity.

Only 22 per cent voted yes, with the remaining votes indifferent.

The town says more findings from their engagement can be found on the Open Mic page.
