Businesses in Stratford are asked to keep an eye out for counterfeit money, as local police have been investigating fake twenty dollar bills circulating in the community.
According to Stratford Police Service, the counterfeit money was recently passed at a local business. Officers noted it was a fake as the transparent window section of the bill had been glued on.
The investigation is ongoing and no charges have been announced.
Police remind businesses to check paper currency by feeling it, checking the transparent window and the metallic features, and looking closely to make sure fine details aren't blurry.
Anyone who receives a suspected counterfeit note is asked to contact Stratford Police Service at 519-271-4141.
