One driver killed in collision south of Port Elgin

South Bruce OPP say a man has died and another was taken to hospital following a head-on collision along Hwy 21 on Tuesday evening.

Emergency services responded to the scene between Bruce Road 40 and Bruce-Saugeen Townline on Hwy 21 around 5:20 p.m.

According to a social media update from OPP Sgt. Ed Sanchuk, the collision involved a pickup truck and an SUV.

The driver of the SUV, a 49-year-old man, was pronounced dead on the scene.

The truck driver was released from hospital with minor injuries.

Hwy 21 was closed for several hours while police investigated, but has since been reopened.
