Hanover police investigate social media-inspired vandalism

Hanover police are looking for suspects who allegedly kicked in doors and set off fireworks as part of a social media challenge.

Few details were made available, but police received at least two reports of doors being kicked in at around 9 p.m. Sunday, followed by fireworks being set off.

The incidents were in subdivisions on the northeast side. One of the doors was breached before the suspects ran away.

"Police investigators are examining all possibilities, including whether these incidents are linked to a 'Door Kick Challenge' on TikTok," said Chief Christopher Knoll in a social media post.

Police have released a security camera image of one of the suspects.

Anyone with information should call Hanover police or Crime Stoppers.
