Ashfield-Colborne-Wawanosh budget adopted for 2026

The Township of Ashfield-Colborne-Wawanosh has adopted its 2026 Budget, including a 3.8 per cent increase to the tax rate.

Because Mayor Glen McNeil did not present a budget to Council before the February 1 deadline, the newly expanded Strong Mayor Powers did not apply to this cycle. Responsibility for the 2026 budget reverted to Council and the Township stuck with a staff-recommended budget practice used in previous years.

The preliminary draft budget was presented to Council in a special meeting on March 13.

The approved budget represents an additional $345,667 in revenue to support Township operations and services.

Based on the average assessed value of a single-family detached home for 2026, compared to 2025, homeowners can expect an average increase of approximately $71 in Township taxes for the year.
