More than $2.1M in illegal cannabis seized in Central Huron

Huron OPP are describing a marijuana grow-op that netted more than $2.1-million worth of illegal drugs as "highly organized and complex."

Investigators with the Huron-Perth OPP community street crimes unit launched the probe that led officers to search a rural property on Base Line in the Municipality of Central Huron last Friday. According to police, over 4,000 cannabis plants and a large quantity of marijuana in various stages of production were seized.

The estimated value of the illegal drugs is more than $2,150,000.

A 61-year-old from Central Huron and a 43-year-old from Waterloo were arrested. They have been charged with one count each of possession for the purpose of distributing, and cultivating, propagating, or harvesting cannabis at a place that is not their home. The two accused have been released from custody and are scheduled to appear in Goderich court on April 20.
