New monthly 50/50 draw will support Kincardine hospital

A new 50/50 draw will give people the chance to win some cash while also helping to build a better Kincardine hospital.

The Royal Canadian Legion has teamed up with the Kincardine and Community Health Care Foundation to launch the Kin Cares 50/50 charitable lottery.

Draws will be held monthly with the first scheduled for the end of April.

Money raised through the lottery will be put toward the hospital's planned expansion, which includes upgrades to the emergency department, medical imaging unit and laboratory, and Bruce County's first MRI. As of mid-December, $12 million had been raised toward the foundation's $18 million fundraising goal.

"Securing a modern healthcare facility isn’t just a milestone, it’s a lifeline that will bring advanced, timely care close to home for families, friends, and neighbours," the Legion and foundation said in a joint statement. "By joining forces, we’re making a heartfelt investment in the wellbeing of those who have served and in the long-term health of everyone who calls this community home."

Tickets for the 50/50 will be available online and at the local Legion. Updates about the monthly draws will be posted on the Kin Cares 50/50 Facebook page.
