Kincardine has released its proposed 2026 Municipal Budget, under the province's new Strong Mayor powers.
The new framework means Mayor Ken Craig was responsible for preparing and proposing the municipal budget, while Council retains the authority to amend it.
The draft budget includes a total proposed tax levy increase of 6.39 per cent. That includes a three per cent tax rate increase dedicated to long-term asset management.
"This budget reflects our commitment to prudent management of public funds while continuing to invest in the services and infrastructure that make Kincardine a strong and welcoming community," said Mayor Craig. "We have worked hard to keep property tax increases as low as possible without compromising the high standard of service our residents expect."
Craig said the draft budget emphasized responsible financial management, sustainable growth, supporting the long-term vibrancy of the community, and concern for the environment.
Council will consider the budget at a Special Meeting on December 10 at 5 p.m. There, Council members can propose amendments in accordance with the Strong Mayor budget process.
Until then, residents are encouraged to review the 2026 Proposed Municipal Budget and share their thoughts with elected officials.
