Snow squalls could dump up to 15 centimetres of snow on parts of midwestern Ontario on Monday.
The lake effect snow off Lake Huron began late Sunday afternoon and is expected to continue throughout the day Monday.
A snow squall warning is in effect for southern Huron and southern Perth counties with Environment Canada noting between 10 to 15 centimetres could fall. In northern Huron County, a winter weather travel advisory is in place with 5 centimetres of snow possible.
Drivers are advised to be ready for changing road conditions as visibility is likely to be suddenly reduced to near zero at times.
"We are asking everyone who may be traveling to work, or going home from work, to please reduce your speed, drive according to the road and weather conditions, leave enough time, room and distance between you and other vehicles, signal your turns, wear your seatbelt, and put safety as a priority because traffic safety is everyone's responsibility," West Region OPP Sergeant Ed Sanchuk said in a video posted to social media.
The snow squalls are forecast to weaken as the day progresses.
A snow squall warning for northern Grey County and a winter weather travel advisory for northern Perth and southern Bruce counties ended around 8 a.m.
