The MS Chi-Cheemaun has wrapped up another successful season with more travellers than ever choosing to sail across Georgian Bay.
The 2025 sailing season for the MS Chi-Cheemaun officially came to an end on October 26, and then a sold-out Fall Repositioning Cruise capped off the year. The season's final voyage sailed from Tobermory to Owen Sound Harbour, where an enthusiastic crowd gathered to welcome the vessel home. The Canadian Mental Health Association Grey Bruce led fundraising efforts onboard, and musical entertainer Al Crawford provided lively entertainment, while the Owen Sound Band filled the waterfront with music during the ship’s arrival.
This year saw a steady increase in traffic, with passenger numbers up 1.2 per cent and vehicle traffic rising 4.7 per cent compared to 2024. In total, the Chi-Cheemaun completed 887 crossings between Tobermory and Manitoulin Island. Only eight sailings were cancelled over two days due to inclement weather.

"We applaud our dedicated crew and staff for their outstanding professionalism, hospitality, and unwavering commitment to providing safe and smooth operations, making every journey aboard the Chi-Cheemaun exceptional."
Looking ahead to 2026, officials say beloved experiences such as the Spring Repositioning Cruise and the Play for Passage program will return, along with opportunities to explore and connect across Georgian Bay.
