Midwestern Ontario's first blast of snow of the season packed a punch for some areas.
The lake effect snow hammered spots southeast of Lake Huron and south of Georgian Bay Monday afternoon through Tuesday morning.
Preliminary data from Environment Canada shows the squalls dropped 28 centimetres of snow on Flesherton. In nearby Markdale, 20 centimetres of snow fell.
The highest snowfall total from the weather event was recorded in southwestern Ontario where a band of squalls parked over the Middlesex County village of Glencoe. A whopping 58 centimetres appears to have fallen there, according to unofficial reports from social media.
Rainy weather expected Wednesday and above freezing temperatures through the weekend will help melt that accumulation. Environment Canada has forecasted showers and a daytime high of plus 5 C for Wednesday. Thursday will be cloudy with a slight chance of showers and a high of plus 5 C. Sunshine returns Friday with the high rising to 7 C.
