Truck driver charged with stunt driving in Wellington North

A commercial truck driver has been charged after being caught driving 135 kilometres an hour in an 80 zone in Wellington North Township.

Wellington County OPP say the traffic stop happened around 1:30 p.m. Saturday on Wellington Road 109, as part of a proactive enforcement effort by the Traffic Management Unit.

A 31-year-old driver from Brampton is facing several charges under the Highway Traffic Act, including stunt driving, speeding, and failing to accurately complete a daily inspection report. The company associated with the vehicle is also charged for failing to meet performance standards and properly conduct inspections.

The driver’s licence has been suspended for 30 days, and the vehicle impounded for 14 days. All accused are scheduled to appear in Guelph court at a later date.
