Charge laid in fatal pedestrian collision

Huron County OPP say a 40-year-old from Huron East is charged in connection with a crash that killed an elderly pedestrian.

On August 22, police and local emergency services personnel were called following a collision involving a vehicle and a pedestrian on Main Street in Seaforth.

First responders arrived and found a pedestrian that had sustained life threatening injuries. They were transported to a local hospital where they succumbed to their injuries. The driver of the involved pickup truck remained at the scene.

The deceased was a 77-year-old resident of Huron East. 

Following the investigation, police have charged the 40-year-old pickup truck driver, a resident of Huron East, with careless driving causing death.

The accused is scheduled for an appearance in the Goderich Provincial Offences Court to answer to the charge.
