United Way looking for volunteers for 2026 tax clinics

The United Way Bruce Grey is looking for volunteers to help out at the 2026 tax clinics that will be held in the region.

This annual event is run by the Bruce Grey Poverty Task Force, and it is "urgently seeking volunteers" for the Community Volunteer Income Tax Program.

The program provides free tax filing support for lower-income individuals, seniors, people with disabilities, newcomers to the area, and many others who face significant barriers to filing their taxes.

Last year, it was reported that over 41,000 people were eligible for the program nationally.

Volunteers in Grey and Bruce helped 3,910 people file 4,410 tax returns. According to United Way, over $13.6 million was returned to people in refunds and benefits in the region, and over $488,000 was saved for those who filed through the program.

You don't need experience to volunteer to assist the program. Volunteers receive training, CRA certification, and ongoing support.
