Driver asleep behind wheel near Chesley charged with impaired

An impaired driving charge has been laid after a driver was found asleep at the wheel in a live lane of traffic south of Chesley.

South Bruce OPP were called about a damaged vehicle that was stopped on Sideroad 30 North just before 9 p.m. on October 26.

Officers arrived and found a driver slouched over the wheel. After waking the man, police noticed signs of impairment. The driver was arrested and taking for additional sobriety testing, police said.

A 21-year-old Hanover man is charged with impaired driving and dangerous driving. He is scheduled to appear in Walkerton court in relation to the charges on December 10.
