$3.5M boost to help Southwestern Ontario startups grow

Southwestern Ontario’s tech sector is getting a boost with a $3.5-million investment from the federal government. The funding will support TechAlliance of Southwestern Ontario in launching Polaris, a new program aimed at helping startups and technology firms grow, create jobs, and compete globally.

At the announcement in London, leaders from across the region (including the Huron Chamber of Commerce) emphasized the importance of ensuring rural communities share in the benefits. "We want to make sure that entrepreneurs in Huron County and beyond have access to the same resources as those in larger centres," the Chamber said.

Polaris is designed to support companies working in areas such as agriculture technology, clean growth, artificial intelligence, and digital health. The program will provide matched funding, mentorship, workforce development, and connections with investors.
