Huron County opens consultations to guide economic future

Huron County’s Economic Development Department has launched a consultation process to guide a new Strategic Plan. It includes an online survey and in-person sessions across all nine municipalities. The plan will set priorities for the next five years, with a broader vision for the next decade.

Director of Economic Development Vicki Lass says community input is key. "The input of our residents and local businesses is essential to the success of this plan." she said. "We want to develop a plan the entire county can get behind that ensures the strategic direction we take reflects the needs and aspirations of communities across Huron County."

The Huron Chamber of Commerce is also encouraging its members to take part. Executive Director Colin Carmichael says the plan will only work if local voices are heard. "Now more than ever, it’s vital that the strategic direction for our county is informed by those who know our local economy best" he said.

Residents can complete the online survey until October 20, 2025. The final plan is expected to go before Huron County Council in January.
