Clinton Public Hospital to close emergency department during upcoming weekend

The Clinton Public Hospital will temporarily close its emergency department on the weekend.

A news release from the Huron Perth Healthcare Alliance (HPHA) states that on Friday, August 22, the emergency department in Clinton will close at 8 p.m., and won't reopen until 8 a.m. on Sunday, August 24.

The upcoming closure, which will see no emergency room access all of Saturday, August 23, is due to a human resources shortages, according to the HPHA release.

Anyone requiring immediate medical attention should call 9-1-1. Paramedics will remain available to the community and will re-route to the nearest available emergency department.

The closest emergency departments to Clinton include Seaforth, Goderich, and Exeter.
