The Town of Saugeen Shores is asking residents to limit their lawn watering in the face of continued hot, dry weather.
The conditions have led neighbouring counties and municipalities to issue burn bans until more precipitation arrives.
Saugeen Shores has not issued any restrictions on burning, but it is asking people to pause high water consumption activities to ease the demand on the municipal system.
Along with lawn watering, the town asks residents to reduce their use of water for activities like car washing, pressure washing, or filling pools.
Residents are also reminded to water in accordance with the Municipal By-law to minimize evaporation and maximize efficiency. The By-law allows watering between 7 and 9 a.m. or 7 and 9 p.m., with even addresses watering on even days and odd addresses watering on odd days.
Watering restrictions do not apply to households connected to private water systems or private wells.
