Burn ban in effect in Huron County

A lack of recent rain has led to an open burn ban in Huron County.

Fire departments across the county made the decision Tuesday, and implemented the ban just before midnight.

"This ban is in place due to dry conditions and increased wildfire risk. It will remain in effect until further notice," a statement on social media said.

While the ban is in place, all open air burning (burn barrels, brush, yard waste) will be prohibited, as will agricultural and industrial burning.

Campfires will be allowed, however they must be supervised at all times and must follow all applicable municipal by-laws. They must also be fully extinguished after use.
