Arrest made in Kincardine death threat probe

A 60-year-old Huron-Kinloss man is accused of threatening to kill a person during a dispute in Kincardine, and the victim's family says it was racially-motivated.

South Bruce OPP were called about the incident in the area of Queen Street and Durham Street on Tuesday. Investigators "determined that during an altercation between two people, one allegedly made death threats against the other."

The family of the teen that was threatened said that statement doesn't capture the whole story, and the victim was targeted due to the colour of his skin. The accused allegedly told him to go back to his country and used racial slurs.

Police released photos of a person of interest in the incident on Thursday morning. After receiving multiple tips from the public, a suspect was identified and arrested.

OPP said the 60-year-old man from Huron-Kinloss is charged with uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm. CKNX News Today contacted the OPP and Walkerton courthouse to see if additional charges have been filed, but neither responded in time for publication.

The accused is scheduled to appear in Walkerton court in relation to the charges on August 27, police said.
