Three beaches deemed unsafe ahead of Canada Day weekend

Huron Perth Public Health's Inspection team has found high bacteria levels in three local beaches, meaning they're unsafe for swimming heading into the long weekend.

Goderich Rotary Cove Beach, Houston Heights Beach and Pier Beach (formerly Bayfield Main Beach) all reported levels of E. coli bacteria that exceed Ministry of Health guidelines.

The inspection team will be back out on Friday for retesting, with results to be posted on Saturday.

Until then, unsafe swimming notices will be posted. The Health Unit warns if you choose to swim in these locations, you could be exposed to bacteria that may cause diarrhea or infections of your ears, nose, throat, eyes, and skin.
