The Hanover Police Service has arrested a suspect wanted in connection to a fatal hit-and-run.
Hanover Police say 66-year-old Hanover native Sheila Lamont succumbed to her injuries at Hanover and District Hospital on June 11 after being struck by a red Chrysler PT Cruiser that fled the scene of the crash on 7th Avenue near the entrance to the Hanover Park.
The PT Cruiser was later found destroyed by fire in the Municipality of Brockton.
On June 20, Hanover police confirmed that the suspect who was allegedly driving the PT Cruiser, 33-year-old Codie Bloom of no fixed address, was arrested and taken into custody after he was spotted walking on McNabb Street in Walkerton by members of the South Bruce OPP on June 19
Bloom was held overnight and remanded into custody at a morning bail hearing. He faces charges including Dangerous Driving Causing Death, Failing to Remain at a Collision Resulting in Death, and Arson. Bloom’s next court appearance is set for June 27 in Walkerton Bail Court.
The charges have yet to be tried in court.
