Local municipal staffs recognizing National Indigenous Peoples Day

National Indigenous Peoples Day is on June 21, and local municipal staffs are rolling out plans to help celebrate the day.

Huron County's Cultural Centre is partnering with local Indigenous leaders and community members to present ReconciliACTION.

The virtual workshop will include "music, storytelling, education, and cultural sharing," according to a media release on the Huron County website.

Also, the municipality of Kincardine is holding numerous events to help "recognize the rich history, heritage, resilience, and diversity of First Nations, Métis, and Inuit People," a media release from the municipality shared.

For a full list of activities and to see previous actions taken in the Municipality of Kincardine towards reconciliation, visit www.kincardine.ca/Journey.

"The County of Huron acknowledges that it is situated on the traditional lands of the Anishinaabe, Haudenosaunee, and Neutral peoples and recognizes First Peoples’ continued stewardship of the land and water. A full land acknowledgment can be found at huroncounty.ca/land-acknowledgement," the media release stated.
