Safety concerns have prompted the City of Owen Sound to temporarily close the pedestrian “catwalk” trail at 5th Avenue East and 17th Street East.
Issues were noted during a recent inspection, so a closure will remain in place while necessary improvements can be completed.
The City expects that the work will be completed and the trail reopened by the end of June 2025.
The trail sits on the east escarpment between Bayview Park and Timber McArthur Park and connects walkers to 4th Avenue East.
In the meantime, residents are encouraged to use the nearby trail access, which remains open and fully accessible just south at 5th Avenue East and 16th Street East, beside St. Mary’s Church.
