Toronto man charged after destroying traffic light in Collingwood

A 33-year-old driver from Toronto is being charged after damaging a traffic light in the Town of Collingwood.

At around 11 p.m. on Friday, the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a cell phone crash notification at the intersection of First Street and Pine Street.

When officers arrived, they found the centre traffic light destroyed.

The driver’s blood alcohol content was reportedly two and a half times the legal limit. As a result, he was handed three separate impaired driving charges.

The man also been handed a 90-day licence suspension, while their vehicle will be impounded for seven days.

He’s scheduled to appear in a provincial courtroom in Collingwood on February 11, 2025.
