Huron-Kinloss switching water and wastewater service providers

A new company will operate and maintain the water and wastewater systems for the Township of Huron-Kinloss over the next five years.

The town agreed to a $4.3 million, five-year contract with the Ontario Clean Water Agency (OCWA), effective January 1.

In a release, the town said "OCWA brings a wealth of expertise and... their strategic planning and energy management programs will support the Township in maintaining efficient and environmentally responsible operations."

The new agreement requires OCWA to develop a condition assessment and inventory of all the assets at various Huron-Kinloss facilities within the first three months of the contract.

According to a report from John Yungblut, Director of Public Works, the inventory "will form the bedrock of an enhanced Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) that will provide the Township with visibility of the preventive maintenance plan to ensure the value of the assets are maximized."

In a release, the Township also extended thanks to Veolia Canada for over two decades of dedicated service. The agreement with Veolia expired on December 31, 2024.

Those with questions regarding water and wastewater are encouraged to reach out to Cory Dulong, Manager of Environmental Services.
