The Gateway Centre for Excellence in Rural Health has received a grant to help upgrade its SHARP Simulation Lab.
The SHARP Simulation Lab is "designed to enhance the skills and capabilities of healthcare professionals in rural areas," according to a release from the Gateway Centre. SHARP stands for Skilled Healthcare Attraction & Retention Program.
Libro Credit Union has donated $20,000 to the lab. The money will go towards more cutting-edge simulation technology in the lab, while also providing more hands-on training for nurses, PSWs and other healthcare workers.
Having the lab available to local healthcare professionals will hopefully help attract and retain more healthcare workers in the region.
"We are incredibly grateful to Libro Credit Union for awarding us this grant. Their support will significantly strengthen our efforts to provide high-quality healthcare training and improve rural health outcomes," said Gwen Devereaux, President of Gateway CERH.
“At Libro, we’re focused on strengthening the financial well-being of the people and the communities we serve. Partnering with Gateway CERH on the Simulation Lab project supports employment by increasing training and skills of healthcare professionals and reducing staffing shortages in the sector. We’re excited to see this project develop and retain skilled healthcare professionals in our region,” shared Breanne Stafford, Libro’s Regional Manager, Community Banking.
