An elevator replacement at Grey County's housing apartment building in Owen Sound will cost $866,864.
Grey County voted Thursday to award the tender to Allen Hastings Ltd. for the job at 305 14th Street West in Owen Sound.
Director of Community Services Anne Marie Shaw reported the current elevator system in the eight-floor apartment building had reached the end of its useful life, as it requires frequent repairs and parts are becoming hard to find.
The two geared traction elevators will be replaced with new cars, motors, electrical systems, mechanical systems, life safety systems and guarding equipment, according to a report to council.
When the county posted the project tender in August, it got no response. However, a posting in October received the only bid for the job.
